On Experimental Practices

Editor: Brandon LaBelle

Published by The Art Academy, University of Bergen / Errant Bodies Press, Berlin

With contributions by: Luis Guerra, Michael Leung, Kathrin Wildner, Alia Zapparova

The publication focuses on capturing key topics, conversations and voices related to the project, as well as invited contributions from artists, activists, and researchers working across a range of international contexts. Central is a focus on querying notions of community, and the artistic, discursive, ecological and social practices that work at being-in-common. This entails moving across notions of sociability and commonability in order to capture a more pronounced sense for relating to diverse forms of life, to the affective and non-verbal, as well as the embodied knowledges and processual dramaturgies within scenes of unlikely solidarity. Here, community is underscored, following Jean-Luc Nancy, as that which unworks the infinite self in favor of an ecstatic, speculative sharing.
